So, for the past few weeks, Kaiya has been attending rehearsal at the middle school for the Miss Rogue River pageant. She was one of six “little sisters” to the two contestants. The little sisters are between 6 & 7 years old and were the cute entertainment for the event. The dance they did was to that song in Dirty Dancing called, “Do you love me?” by the Contours. The girls wore jeans rolled up to their mid-calf and white t-shirts. They had their hair up in a pony tail and the event director had scarves for their hair and neck in various colors. Kaiya had a sky blue set. They did great! Then, the formal presentation of the cute little ones involved a formal gown. Kaiya’s is pink, of course. All the girls got frilly socks. We got to put make up on them, do their hair and they had these beautiful hair accessories made individually just for them. Kaiya’s was a head band with pink flowers. We were fortunate to have a room to get the girls ready where it was air conditioned. Unfortunately, it was still hot and humid and the girls hair really took a hit. I had her hair in ringlets, or at least, I attempted to. I tried all day to keep Kaiya’s hair curled to no avail. *sigh. Anyway, I will post some pictures up as soon as I get access to them. I just wanted to make sure I got this in the blog. Why did she do this? Well, I am really pleased that Kaiya was invited to participate. She stood a head taller than the other little sisters. The girls embraced her and her differences, and she has some really cool friends from this event. My little Amazon Warrior Princess!! People commented on her beautiful dress and they were very happy to see her there. I hope her friend Maddie gets to do it with her next year. Two “Amazon Warrior Princesses” on stage. VERY cool!!
It boosted her confidence and she’s been invited to participate again next year. She LOVED it! She will get to go to a tea party just for the little sisters in a few weeks and also ride on the Miss RR float in the Rooster Crow parade the last Saturday in June. Even cooler, Baylei would like to participate in something like this….never thought she would. Here is the program from the event. Sorry it’s turned funky.
